Evonik: Phosphate methacrylate additive as corrosion protection and adhesion promoter
Evonik is launching Visiomer Hema-P 100, a high-performance phosphate methacrylate. The additive provides transparent flame retardancy, serves as an adhesion promoter for polar surfaces and improves corrosion resistance on metal substrates. It is therefore both a corrosion inhibitor and an effective adhesion promoter.
Evonik launches Visiomer Hema-P 100 on the market. The phosphate methacrylate monomer does not migrate and thus develops its long-lasting effect. Hema-P, which is incorporated by polymerization, provides transparent flame retardancy, improves adhesion and reduces corrosion. In addition, Visiomer Hema-P can improve dispersibility and act as a complexing agent. Visiomer Hema-P is versatile: it can be used as a monomer for emulsion and solution polymers, vinyl esters and unsaturated polyester composites, acrylic adhesives, acrylic floor coatings and cast PMMA. Applications include coatings for wood, textiles and paper, direct-to-metal (DTM) coatings, structural adhesives, roof sealants and parking deck coatings, and cast PMMA for construction.
Evonik's Visiomer Hema-P is characterized by its high monoester content, which contributes to its maximum performance. Unlike conventional flame retardant additives, Visiomer Hema-P works without compromising transparency or mechanical properties. For easier handling, Evonik also offers Visiomer Hema-P in a low-viscosity 70 percent solution in MMA. Visiomer Hema-P 70M and the new Visiomer Hema-P 100 are available worldwide.
