"Together for a climate-neutral future" was the motto of Covestro's trade show presentation at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai at the beginning of November. The focus was on cooperation with partners and the topic of sustainability.

CIIE is the largest import trade show in the world and brings together a wide range of companies from different industries every year. For Covestro, this is the second participation after its debut in 2021. The materials manufacturer presented a broad portfolio of products and solutions that support the sustainability and low-carbon development efforts of various industries. At the same time, it strengthened cooperation with partners. "The world is increasingly facing daunting challenges. It is in our hands to meet them and set the course for a green, smart and secure future. Many ideas, concepts and technologies are there, they now need to be realized with determination," said Dr. Markus Steilemann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Covestro."

Among the solutions presented at CIIE that use the mass balance method are the low-carbon coatings applied to the wood structure at Covestro's booth. The coatings, produced by Chinese company Baichuan, are based on Covestro's Desmodur CQ hardener. It contains more than 30 percent biomass according to ISCC PLUS and reduces carbon emissions by more than 20 percent from cradle to Covestro's factory gate. "We believe that mass-compatible solutions, alongside other low-carbon materials, are critical to supporting sustainable development and a carbon-neutral future for various industries and society. But to amplify this impact, we rely on the strength of partnerships, and that is why we are here at CIIE," said Holly Lei, president of Covestro China. Covestro will also deepen its partnership with HiPhi, China's premium electric vehicle brand, to develop next-generation solutions that make mobility smarter and greener. Under a new agreement signed during CIIE, a range of Covestro's CO2-reduced polycarbonates, coating and adhesive solutions are expected to be used in HiPhi's future models to enable new features while reducing their carbon footprint.
