CeramTec: Ceramic mill lining Alotec with wear protection

The ceramic grinder lining made of Alotec from CeramTec ensures functioning grinders without residues in the ground material. The lining is characterized by very low abrasion and offers high closure protection.
The areas of application for ceramic wear protection solutions in mills are diverse: whether in raw material processing, in the cement, paint and pharmaceutical industries or in the metallurgical, chemical and ceramic industries, they are in demand. Whether quartz sand, cement, chemicals or pigments - the raw materials are sometimes very abrasive. At the same time, the grinding of food or animal feed, pharmaceutical products, pigments or paints, but also raw materials for the glass and ceramics industry, for example, requires a particularly high degree of purity of the ground material. CeramTec also relies on mill linings from its own Alotec in its own production: "We line our mills ourselves in order to meet our high demands on the quality of our ceramics. After all, the mill lining also plays a part in ensuring that we can ultimately offer our customers an optimum product," explains Ulrike Wiech, Sales Manager Wear Protection Solutions. "We have more than 100 such mills in various sizes in use and they have to be replaced cyclically. Our customers from a wide range of industries worldwide benefit from the experience that CeramTec gains here," Wiech continues.
When grinding and crushing in industrial plants, it is particularly important that the product to be ground is not contaminated by abrasive particles from the mill or the grinding media. "Ceramic linings are characterized by very low abrasion - contamination of the material to be ground is thus avoided as far as possible," explains Wiech. CeramTec primarily relies on Alotec 92 for the mill lining, an aluminum oxide ceramic (Al2O3) which itself contains no foreign matter and also impresses with its high density and maximum hardness. "Alotec mill linings for drum mills outperform conventional lining materials in terms of their wear resistance in both wet and dry grinding. And we are continuously developing the material further," emphasizes Wiech, adding that different profiles of the mill liners are particularly suitable depending on the material to be ground. "Our many years of experience in ceramic wear protection enable us to find individual solutions for our customers' applications," Wiech emphasizes. Special requirements such as shaft stones, lifting bars and edges can also be taken into account. Steatite mill linings and grinding media complete CeramTec's wear protection portfolio. Thorough planning and close coordination between the parties involved is necessary to ensure that the lining change runs smoothly and downtimes are as short as possible. This is ensured by CeramTec's long-standing and experienced installation partners with the highest precision and quality.
