3M and Axalta cooperate on training for car paint repair

3M and Axalta are partnering to launch a new series of training content focused on automotive paint repair. The series will include five cross-brand training modules.
The training modules from 3M and Axalta are designed to help refinishers and bodyshops increase their understanding of repair processes and achieve better operational results. Produced by the two companies, the brand-independent and easy-to-understand training videos show how expertise can be shared in the industry. The global release of the first three training modules in the series, which focus on optimizing refinish process productivity, efficiency and quality, took place on December 2, 2024. The modules will be accessible via the 3M Collision Repair Academy and Axalta Academy platforms. The training content will also be available on the 3M and Axalta social media channels. Additional training modules on safety and sustainability will be made available in 2025.
Combating skills shortages with training in painting processes
In a rapidly changing industry suffering from an acute skills shortage, 3M and Axalta have recognized the need to work together to promote training in painting processes and the skills development of painters in the field of accident repair in the long term. The jointly developed training content draws on the core competencies and synergies of two companies with deep expertise in science, automotive refinishing and training solutions. The content is aimed at teaching best practices in the repair process that can be easily implemented by bodyshops through engaging, informative and clear process steps.
