SurfaceTechnology Germany 2024 attracted almost 4,000 visitors and exceeded the previous trade fair by around 25 percent. The number of exhibitors was also higher than at the last event.

At this year's SurfaceTechnology Germany, the organizers and exhibitors were pleased with the increased visitor interest: Almost 4000 visitors came to the international trade fair for surface technology in Stuttgart from 4 to 6 June. A wide range of surface technologies awaited them there from 240 exhibitors from 16 countries. The range of surface technology solutions was very broad and ranged from a wide variety of coating solutions to services and system accessories. Electroplating technology was traditionally well represented, including at the joint ZVO and Wotech stands. But there was also a lot to see for the numerous trade visitors from many other areas, from cleaning to decorative and functional coatings to corrosion protection. One highlight - in addition to the presentation of the Stuttgart Surface Technology Award "The Surface" - was the expert forum, where presentations on trends in surface technology such as digitalization, energy and material efficiency, new processes and technologies or sustainability were given a lot of space. Efficiency and sustainability also dominated the offerings of the numerous companies and institutions exhibiting their solutions. Despite the challenging economic environment, there was often a sense of optimism and the numerous innovations showed that the industry is still in the process of optimally positioning itself for the future.

"In view of the difficult economic environment, companies in the sector are required to increase productivity and efficiency in order to continue to operate successfully. SurfaceTechnology Germany 2024 therefore comes at exactly the right time: it offers an excellent opportunity to see the current economic downturn as an opportunity and to use it for entrepreneurial realignment and transformation," says Christoph Matheis, Managing Director of the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO). Dr. Martin Riester, Surface Technology Officer at VDMA, adds: "Artificial intelligence, digitalization and interoperability are important topics for ensuring the competitiveness of German technology providers. SurfaceTechnology Germany offers an ideal basis for knowledge transfer, networking and business initiation for surface technology." Christoph Nowak, Project Manager of SurfaceTechnology Germany at Deutsche Messe AG, adds: "The atmosphere in the hall was good, really good. We are very grateful that so many exhibitors have been with us for so many years and have made the event what it is today. We are also delighted that many new faces have joined us this year. This shows us once again that SurfaceTechnology Germany is perceived as the industry event in the market." The next SurfaceTechnology Germany will take place again in Stuttgart from June 9 - 11, 2026.
