WMV GmbH from Windeck was congratulated by Ranga Yogeshwar on its success in the Top 100. In the scientific selection process for the award, WMV was particularly impressive in the size category B (51 to 200 employees in Germany) in the categories Climate of Innovation and Innovative Processes and Organization.

The award ceremony took place on June 27 in Mainz as part of the German SME Summit for all SMEs that were awarded the Top 100 seal at the beginning of the year. In 1970, it was an ingenious product idea that led to the founding of WMV GmbH in Windeck: a tangible centrifuge drum. Today, WMV GmbH is at the cutting edge of technology in every respect: a global manufacturer of automated surface treatment systems. The company develops and implements innovative, future-oriented technologies for de-oiling, coating, cleaning, drying and tempering - from bulk parts to high-quality rack goods. The management continues to think unconventionally, successfully shaping the climate of innovation and processes within the company. Three years ago, Managing Directors Martin and Barbro Müller established a management team to deal with the major issues. The six members observe the market, scan trends and changes and think about new technologies and products in collaboration with customers and suppliers. Groups of specialists from different areas then further develop customer-oriented innovation ideas. The development teams are put together individually, depending on expertise and subject area.

In addition to the development topics, there are also many small optimizations that ensure continuous improvement. "We work according to the lean philosophy and are not organized hierarchically, but in a network," explains Barbro Müller. "We take suggestions from employees at any time and discuss what we can implement - these are well-established processes." Everyone in the company knows this: Mistakes are not a drama. "We fail to succeed - we fail our way to success," explains Martin Müller. "If you want to be innovative, you can't be afraid of overshooting the mark. This cultural change has really brought us forward." The employee participation model is also unconventional: if the company is doing well, everyone receives a special payment. It is the same for everyone. After all, everyone is working together towards a common goal. The team's success is based on a combination of comprehensive expertise, openness to technology, a networked organization, a strong corporate culture and a continuous exchange with customers in order to understand their challenges precisely. "This success is also reflected in our slogan 'Always a winning combination', concludes Martin Müller.
