With the PFAScon 2024 on March 14, 2024, the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid is opening its doors for a varied focus day on the topic of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) and the current situation with regard to the ECHA restriction proposal.

PFAScon 2024 will take place as a new interactive format on site in Lüdenscheid, but will also be offered online to a limited extent. The event will focus on the current situation and promises a multi-faceted discussion on the effects of the potential ban on plastics production and the industries involved. At the end of the consultation phase in September 2023, politicians and numerous companies and associations took a stand on the restriction proposal and the impending ban on > 10,000 individual substances and highlighted how serious the effects of an undifferentiated regulation would be. There are now calls for a risk-based regulatory approach and exemptions from the restrictions for fluoropolymers and substances for which risks during use can be ruled out.

PFAScon 2024 at the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid offers a comprehensive opportunity for everyone to get to grips with the latest developments in the field. Top-class speakers from science and industry will report from their fields, share their findings and present innovative solutions. The day's program can be divided into the key areas of overview/analytics, materials and surface technology. The variety of presentations ranges from a general introduction to the current status to the prognosis of effects and legal and analytical assessments. In the discussion panels and in the workshop, conference participants can discuss their points of view and actively participate in the search for alternatives or options for action. Networking with industry experts offers the opportunity to make valuable contacts.
