Change in the DGO management: On January 1, 2025, Dr. Daniel Meyer took over the management of the German Society for Electroplating and Surface Technology (DGO). He takes over the position from Christoph Matheis, Managing Director of the ZVO.

Christoph Matheis has accompanied the work of the DGO Board of Directors as Managing Director of the DGO for many years: from time to time on an interim basis for a few months and then continuously from March 1, 2015 until December 31, 2024. At the DGO Board of Directors meeting on November 12, 2024 in Niedernberg, Matheis was bid farewell by the DGO Board of Directors. Chairman Dr. Martin Metzner paid tribute to Christoph Matheis' commitment: "In recent years, Matheis has always been fully committed to the interests of the DGO. He played a key role in putting the DGO's finances on a solid footing and paving the way for continuous, very successful and long-term success. He was always a valuable companion and advisor to the Board, whose proposals were well thought out and characterized by foresight. His sense of respectful interaction with the various DGO members and committees also had a significant influence on the work of the Board of Directors. Dr. Metzner thanked him on behalf of the entire DGO Board for his tireless and truly exceptional commitment to the interests of the DGO and wished him much joy, good luck and much success for the start of his future tasks in the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO).

Christoph Matheis expressed his thanks for the deep trust placed in him over the past few years. "I have always enjoyed the very constructive and open cooperation with the Executive Board and I will always be very happy to be available as a contact person for the interests of the DGO in the future if required". Dr. Daniel Meyer has been working full-time for the DGO since June 1, 2017 - initially as project manager for the implementation of the scientific accompanying project for the BMBF funding measure "InnoEMat" and from 2021 as technical managing director. Since then, he has successfully acquired further funding projects for the DGO. "I look forward to continuing on the path we have embarked on and further advancing the DGO with my own impetus," says Meyer. "Together with the DGO Board and the office staff, the aim is to support the scientific and technical development of the industry to the best of our ability, to advance the content of specialist committees and working groups, to strengthen the work of the district groups, to attract new corporate and junior members and to further develop event formats," Meyer continued. "I am open to all suggestions from our members and look forward to every personal conversation."
