Panacol has developed new specialty adhesives for organic and perovskite-based photovoltaic applications. For these, the adhesives offer higher resistance to environmental influences, compatibility with the PV material and good adhesion.

The demands placed on adhesives today go far beyond those of structural bonding and mean, for example, that adhesives can replace components or improve their performance. In recent years, Panacol has successfully developed a range of multifunctional adhesives for photovoltaic and flexible electronics applications. The advantages of these adhesives in photovoltaic applications are higher resistance to environmental influences, compatibility with the PV material and good adhesion. New conductive adhesives efficiently bond and protect electrical connections for SMD components, even in flexible setups.

In all cases, the specific requirements of the application are key factors to consider when selecting an adhesive. Significant benefits can be achieved when component design, (UV) adhesive properties and curing process are optimally matched. High throughput processes, such as roll-to-roll processes, are very efficient, which can reduce the total cost of ownership. The requirements for the adhesive, such as flow properties, can also be modified at this point to match the application process. Due to the rapid development in this field, there is very little standardization in the manufacturing of OPV. To support continued development, adhesives must be modified or developed to meet the specific OPV design, materials and processes. Panacol has anticipated this need and is able to work with manufacturers to flexibly make adjustments to adhesives.
