Lackheroes: Sabrina Hasel is Germany's best up-and-coming painter

Sabrina Hasel has won the "LackHeroes", the German championship for vehicle painters. The young woman competed for Lower Saxony and left eleven other participants behind her. For two days, the young talents gave their all in twelve hours of competition.
"I could tell it was going well, but there was so much great work there. I would never have expected 1st place. It's an honor to even be here!" marveled the winner, adding, "I'm just glad to have such a great job!" Jesica Eisert from Saxony and Levinio Sander from Bavaria followed in second and third place. This year, the competition took place at Spies Hecker in the Axalta Refinish Academy in Cologne. The automotive refinish brand not only provided the premises. There was also technical support from Spies Hecker's trainers.
Torsten Schmidt, head of the vehicle refinishing business unit at Spies Hecker, was enthusiastic about the quality of the work and also the atmosphere: "Although everyone wanted to win and showed quite impressively what they can do, the young people also supported each other and stuck together as a family of vehicle refinishers. That was remarkable!" The tasks that the seven women and five men set themselves were demanding in both creative and technical terms. For example, they painted and lettered a carshape and a billboard with this year's theme, "Going for Color," and showed off their skills by painting a car door. "We are pleased that we were able to provide a stage for the participants to showcase their talent. The national competition is an important event in our industry to further promote the next generation of automotive painters," said Dirk Sauer, Technical Manager Axalta. Other partners included 3M, CWS-Boco, Mirka and SATA.
