Detmold site: Plantag Coatings plans plant expansion

Plantag Coatings GmbH from Detmold has, after the purchase of a hall in the direct vicinity of the company in 2019, now purchased another plot of land with corresponding buildings.
From a neighboring company, coatings manufacturer Plantag Coatings acquired a 14,000 sqm site with over 2,200 sqm of office and ancillary space as well as 5,750 sqm for production and storage areas. The company has concrete plans for this, some of which have already been implemented. 1,400 sqm of office space will be used to consolidate administrative departments that are currently still spread across two locations. In addition, the establishment of a central quality assurance department is planned on approximately 100 square meters. In order to shorten distances, a pneumatic tube system, currently under construction, will be installed on the entire site so that samples, liquid samples and original documents can be quickly transported to the appropriate locations.
In the new production halls, a complete production plant for radiation-curing (UV, water-UV, ESH) products will be newly built on approximately 1,500 square meters. This means roughly a tripling of the output possible today. The degree of automation is to increase significantly. A tank farm with a capacity of 300,000 liters for raw materials and a new tank truck refueling station will be built on approximately 300 square meters. In the future, the Plantag Group will thus concentrate essentially on two main product lines, namely waterborne coatings and radiation-curing coating materials. A further area of around 200 square meters will be used for an automatic washing plant for mobile batch tanks. In addition, there are plans to build a completely new laboratory building on the existing space.
