Covestro receives Japanese Safety Award

The Tsukuba plant of Japan Fine Coatings Co. Ltd, a Covestro Group company, recently received the prestigious 'Safety Award Grand Prize' from the Japan Chemical Industry Association.
Japan Fine Coatings Co, Ltd (JFC), a Covestro company, is one of the leading suppliers of coatings for optical fibers. The Tsukuba plant focuses on the production of UV-curable resins that support the optical fiber market by providing safe and stable operation. This year, the leading chemical industry association in Japan, the Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA), awarded the Tsukuba plant the 'Safety Award Grand Prize' in recognition of its excellent safety record of more than 20 years without a reportable incident since the start of operations.
"We have continuously conducted in-depth safety activities, such as morning safety meetings and on-the-job training based on Japanese safety culture, to share and deepen our knowledge, skills and safety culture," said Takahiko Kurosawa, site manager of the Tsukuba Plant. "In terms of equipment, we are implementing safety upgrades, including SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) systems that take automatic action in the event of anomalies, and a barcode system that prevents mishandling of raw materials. We are very honored that our daily efforts have resulted in being without a reportable incident for more than 20 years, and that our efforts have been recognized with this award."
