Covestro celebrates its 10th anniversary - innovation and growth

Covestro celebrates its 10th anniversary. Since the spin-off from Bayer in 2015, the company has developed into a leading global supplier of high-performance polymer materials and a pioneer of solutions for the circular economy.
With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, Covestro's materials can now be found in countless applications worldwide - from mobility and construction to electronics, healthcare and consumer goods. "For ten years, our employees have proven that groundbreaking innovations are created when curious minds meet courageous hearts," says Markus Steilemann, CEO of Covestro. "I am incredibly proud of our global teams. Their passion, creativity and resilience are the foundation of our corporate culture. Thanks to their commitment, we overcome challenges, seize opportunities and develop solutions that make the world a better place."
Further development through innovation and sustainability
Over the past ten years, Covestro has achieved significant milestones on the way to becoming a more innovative, sustainable and resilient company. Since 2015, Covestro has invested more than EUR 4 billion in expansion and modernization - with a clear focus on sustainable production technologies. A significant step was the successful integration of DSM's Resins & Functional Materials business, which strengthened Covestro's position in sustainable coating solutions and expanded its customer base. The company has advanced key technologies for renewable raw materials, developed new chemical recycling processes for high-performance plastics and signed eleven long-term power purchase agreements to significantly increase the share of renewable energy in its own operations. Covestro has received several awards as a top employer for its commitment to innovation and employees - including in Greater China, where the company operates ten production sites alone.
Covestro celebrates its 10th anniversary worldwide
To mark its 10th anniversary, Covestro is celebrating with employees worldwide and launching initiatives that express the company's deep appreciation for its employees. In Germany, large-format posters are being installed in and around production sites as a visible sign of thanks to employees. These posters complement smaller gatherings and celebrations at the sites and in the plants. Together with the Works Council, Covestro also supports local food banks at the German sites with donations - a sign of thanks to the communities, with a special focus on those in need. In addition, a specially designed Covestro bus is now on the road in Leverkusen - equipped with materials from Covestro itself, including polycarbonates in the windows, polyurethanes in the seats and special coatings for the exterior surfaces. In North America, Covestro has launched the "10 for 10" corporate citizenship initiative with the goal of reaching a total of 10,000 volunteer hours by September 2025. For every hour registered, Covestro will donate 10 meals to local food banks - with the goal of up to 100,000 meals in total. In China and the Asia-Pacific region, the anniversary celebrations will focus on employees and social commitment. As Covestro enters its second decade, it remains committed to driving innovation and shaping a sustainable future. Strategic priorities include a fully circular economy, climate neutrality in operations, the transition from fossil to renewable raw materials and the expansion of digital capabilities - including the use of artificial intelligence to increase efficiency and develop new solutions.
