The Caldan Group has acquired the French engineering company Sema. Sema is known for its high-performance conveyor technologies and has been Caldan's technology and sales partner in the region for a long time.

According to the company, the strategic acquisition of Sema significantly strengthens Caldan's position in the global industrial automation market and accelerates its expansion in Southern Europe, which is in line with the company's long-term strategy. With the acquisition, Sema will become the Caldan hub in France, covering the strategically important markets in France and Southern Europe. In line with Caldan's decentralized, global model with regional offices in Germany, the UK, the US, China and India, Sema will continue to cultivate customer relationships with local and regional system houses and end customers. In addition to strengthening geographic coverage, the acquisition of Sema expands Caldan's product offering and capabilities in surface treatment. Paulo Afonso, founder and driving force behind the growth of Sema, will retain his position as Managing Director of the company. This will ensure continuity in management and support future growth. The Le Mans site is set to become an important growth and innovation center for the region.

Caldan focuses on growth with acquisition of Sema

"I am delighted to welcome Paulo and his team to the Caldan family. This is a logical next step in the successful, long-standing collaboration between two companies that share a commitment to quality, innovation and the success of their customers," says Claus Nørgaard, CEO of the Caldan Group. "By joining forces, we are creating a stronger global presence, combining Caldan's international network and system expertise with Sema's proven technology and market experience, as well as strong relationships with system houses and end customers in the region. We are investing in growth and our goal is to build on Sema's existing strengths while creating new opportunities, innovation and talent development." "Our journey with Caldan began in 2010, and from the outset we recognized shared values and complementary strengths. Joining the Caldan family is an exciting new chapter for our team and gives us the scale and support to serve our customers even better," says Paulo Afonso.
