19,000th Dürr painting robot delivered to European BYD plant
Dürr's 19,000th painting robot has been delivered to BYD's first European plant in Szeged, Hungary. The robot is equipped with the EcoBell3 high-speed rotary atomizer, thus offering high painting quality and supporting sustainable production.
BYD Auto Company Limited, a leading Chinese manufacturer of new energy vehicles, is one of the first Chinese car manufacturers to build a factory in Europe. Dürr has delivered more than 120 painting and handling robots to the Hungarian plant, providing sustainable and efficient painting solutions for electric vehicles. The plant's painting lines will be equipped with EcoRP 6- and 7-axis robots that coordinate and automate interior and exterior painting with Scara door openers. The 7-axis robot also assists with opening the hoods, while the 6-axis robot efficiently paints the vehicle exteriors.
Fast color changes and reduced energy consumption
BYD chose Dürr's EcoBell3 high-speed rotary atomizer to ensure flawless paint quality with uniform color, leveling and film thickness. Combined with advanced environmental and color change technology, the atomizer family enables fast color changes and reduces energy consumption. The integration of Dürr's standardized and modular EcoSupply P special paint system will further increase efficiency. The piggable system directs paint residue back into the container so that no residue is left behind. This significantly reduces both paint and solvent residues. For BYD's various electric vehicle models, Dürr has equipped flexible cleaning robots with spring rollers that efficiently remove dust and dirt particles from complex car body surfaces.
