OVE Plasmatec is expanding its line of PFAS-free coatings. The newly launched OVE27T is a two-component coating for elastomer seals used in a wide range of industries.

OVE Plasmatec has expanded its line of PFAS-free coatings for elastomer seals. The latest addition is the water-based, two-component anti-friction coating OVE27T, which was developed as an alternative to a previously used PTFE-containing universal coating. According to the company, the coating achieves comparable performance levels in terms of friction, insertion forces, and wear. “With the performance values we have thoroughly tested and approved, OVE27T is on par with its PTFE predecessor,” says Managing Director Bettina Kremer. The coating is suitable for seals made of EPDM, NBR, FKM, and silicone. According to the company, it exhibits good resistance to chemicals, temperature, and weathering, and is available in various colors as well as in an optional electrically conductive version.

PFAS-Free Coating for Seals

Coated seals are also designed to be suitable for automated assembly processes, as they do not accumulate static charge and can be easily separated. The color variations can support optical recognition in automated systems. According to the company, OVE Plasmatec relies on plasma technology for cleaning during pretreatment. The company has been offering PFAS-free coatings for several years and is expanding its portfolio in response to stricter regulatory requirements. Before approval, the coatings are tested for, among other things, tensile strength, kink resistance, and media resistance.
