Hempel Appoints Eric Alström as New Group President and CEO

Effective August 1, 2026, Eric Alström will be appointed Group President & CEO of Hempel A/S. He succeeds Michael Hansen, who stepped down in June 2026 and left Hempel, and will assume his position following a period of interim leadership by Peter la Cour Gormsen, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, and Emilie Barriau, Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer. Eric Alström joins Hempel with more than 30 years of international leadership experience in Europe, the U.S., Japan, and China across the industrial technology, automotive, and manufacturing sectors. He has an impressive track record of leading global companies, driving transformations, and delivering profitable organic growth. He holds a master’s degree in management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Experience on Hempel’s Board of Directors

Most recently, Alström served as President of Danfoss Power Solutions, where he led Danfoss’s largest business segment with comprehensive global responsibility and strengthened its market position through profitable organic growth, strategic acquisitions, and a strong focus on customers and products. Alström has a deep understanding of Hempel from his previous role as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, a position he held from 2017 to 2024.
