Brillux: GSB and Qualicoat certification for NT polyester powder coatings

Brillux Industrielack has received certification for its low-temperature polyester powders under the two recognized quality standards, GSB and Qualicoat. The relevant types of polyester products—B-Powder LT Uni Coat PE and B-Powder LT Premium Coat PE—meet the requirements of GSB International and Qualicoat.
GSB and Qualicoat certification confirms the consistently high quality of Brillux NT powder coatings, just as with their predecessor products. With the NT formulations, they offer additional benefits such as lower energy consumption, optionally higher coating throughput, or a combination of both. The certification process for these two recognized quality seals focused on the key topcoats from the NT standard product line of Brillux Industrielack. Selected variants of the two polyester powders—B-Powder LT Uni Coat PE and B-Powder LT Premium Coat PE—that are relevant for the intended application underwent the certification process. The particularly cost-effective universal NT powder coating B-Powder LT Uni Coat PE is classified according to GSB International Florida 1 and Qualicoat Class 1. Users can reliably coat facade components with this powder coating in regions with normal environmental conditions, such as Central and Northern Europe. With the highly weather-resistant B-Powder LT Premium Coat PE powder coating, users can take it a step further. Even in regions with high UV exposure due to intense sunlight, the premium grades from Brillux Industrielack can be used reliably. The tested variants of B-Powder LT Premium Coat PE meet the requirements of GSB International Florida 3 and Qualicoat Class 2. “In terms of durability, our relevant topcoats maintain the same quality level as before the switch to NT powder coatings,” says Marco Bock, Marketing Manager at Brillux Industrielack. “After switching to NT products, industrial coaters are playing it safe in terms of quality, while also gaining advantages in terms of energy savings and process efficiency.”
NT Is the New Standard at Brillux Industrielack
The two polyester powder series are part of the new standard core product line based on NT technology. In April of this year, Brillux Industrielack converted its entire core product line—comprising 27 grades—to NT technology, including epoxy, polyester, hybrid powder, and clear coats, as well as other products for end-to-end NT system configurations such as B-Powder LT Prime EP 5818, a universally applicable, zinc-free, low-temperature epoxy-based powder primer. This opens up opportunities for greater efficiency during application: The reduced curing temperatures help lower energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. Alternatively, existing temperature parameters can be maintained while shortening turnaround times. A combination of both approaches is also possible. The NT powder coatings offer the same proven product properties as previous powder coatings: high corrosion protection, mechanical strength, excellent UV and weather resistance, and high-quality flow for attractive finishes. The over-bake-stable formulation increases tolerance to process-related variations and reduces the risk of scrap. “With our NT polyester powders, coaters gain great flexibility in meeting a wide range of requirements,” says Bock. “We thus cover every need across a range of gloss levels and surface qualities.” The GSB International and Qualicoat certifications are not limited to the coating of facade components. These certifications also serve as important quality standards for the powder coating of other outdoor components.
