Adphos ThermoLab (aTL): Testing, Rental, and Use in Own Lab

Anyone who wants to evaluate quality, adhesion, coating appearance, residual moisture, or material behavior needs reliable data from the thermal process itself. A single temperature reading or a visual inspection afterward is often insufficient. The Adphos ThermoLab (aTL) therefore makes the process continuously visible and measurable throughout the entire thermal treatment. During treatment with an Adphos aNir module, the system records the change in mass of the sample in the microgram range and measures the temperature profile noncontact with a temporal resolution in the millisecond range. The measurements show when and at what temperature a material loses mass, where drying, evaporation, or other thermally induced effects occur, and how the sample temperature changes simultaneously. This data is particularly relevant when formulations, substrates, application quantities, or process parameters are changed. This allows for a targeted investigation of differences in drying behavior, residual moisture, or the response to energy input.

Analyzing and Optimizing Thermal Processes

The combined mass and temperature profile also aids in quality inspections by identifying deviations between material batches or samples that initially appear visually comparable. The aTL is suitable for applications in which drying, heating, evaporation, or thermally induced material changes determine the process outcome. These include coatings and prints using inks, paints, adhesives, or pastes, as well as functional layers, films, paper-based substrates, textile materials, and battery components. The measurement data provides a foundation for process development, failure analysis, quality control, and scale-up decisions. Tests using the Adphos ThermoLab can be conducted at the Adphos Application Center in Bruckmühl as well as through Adphos North America. In addition, the aTL can be rented for internal test series or purchased for permanent use in your own laboratory.
